Sperlonga

Perched on a rocky outcrop limit, the last stretch of mountains the Ausoni, Sperlonga today still retains the taste between the picturesque and romantic, linked to the thread of historical events experienced with particular intensity. Its heritage of unspoiled nature and ancient traditions, archaeological evidence, can approach this land and its present reality, with our minds turned to the evocative of ancient presences. So the meeting with the landscaped beach of Sperlonga, is enhanced with the vibrant and heroic events of Homer or, following the rhythm of ages, with the country's maritime fortress. The ancient village, in its colorful mosaic architecture, with whitewashed plaster, contains the story of these people. Here arches and steps steal space to rock and every lane opens and hides, climbs back down, and reappears, to die slowly in the doorway of a house. If the village is the truest expression of authentic living in extremely tight space constraints, the reason for all this cling to the time of the pirates of the eighth and ninth centuries. Sperlonga increasingly assumed the role of maritime fortress up to enhance its defenses with watchtowers. Today, among these lanes, designed by centuries of foot traffic, there is a frantic mundane beat. The new rhythm the sun drowned in the sea and at night dies with billions of stars, a flirtatious crowd invades exuberance of tourism has changed the essence, however, without upsetting the balance. Here, when the streets, bars, restaurants, happy with the ease of being on vacation.
